☆Things you'll need☆:
- SimPe ( download here)
- CEP (Color Enable Package) - here
☆ OPTIONAL☆:
- an editing app for your photos (I use paint.net with some of my editing - here)
- a JPG to PNG converter (here - I use this to convert my images just because the original poster mesh usually is in PNG format)
- Image resizer (here - I use this to match the sizing of the object mesh
STEP 1:
Open SimPe and go to 'Object Workshop' tab that should be located at the bottom of the program. If you don't see this tab, then, at the top left corner, select the first dropdown menu and select the icon that is shown in the photo (there is another similar icon but that's just for a Windowed version of the Object Workshop).
STEP 2:
When you're all done, make sure you select the 'Object Workshop' tab if you haven't already, and press 'Start'. (If you don't want to use the games meshes and want to use a custom one that someone made, click 'Open...' and go to Step 4)
STEP 3:
Now you should see the different categories for you to choose. Select the '+' button near 'Decorative'. Then, select the '+' button near 'Wall'. Choose which object you want to recolor/clone.
Go to 'Next' and under 'Task', select either 'Recolor' or 'Clone'.
(Recolor - recolor of the selected object you chose and appears in-game under the selected object's swatches with the same name)
(Clone - clones the selected object you chose and you have the ability to rename and change the object's description)
STEP 5 (recolor option):
If you chose 'Recolor', just click 'Start' that's located on the right side of the page and skip to Step 6. Name your object and click 'Save'.
If you chose 'Clone', there should be a section with a bunch of checkboxes. Check which ones you want and don't want and then choose 'Start'. (I check the box 'Change Description' which is unchecked by default (I think?))
The Description box should pop up in which you can change the 'Title', 'Price', and 'Description'. When you're done go to 'Finish'. The model name box will then appear if you want to change the names. Now, Name your object and click 'Save'.
The last step of the Object Workshop is finished. Now you'll want to look at the 'Resource Tree' and 'Resource List' tabs and you should see some things in it. (If you don't see anything, just go to 'File'-> 'Object...' -> and then open the .package file that you just saved)
Select the highlighted sections in the photo above. Now you'll want to switch over to 'Plugin View' instead of the 'Object Workshop' tab.
Now you'll want to go to a site that can change the image size. I use the last image dimensions which in this case is 256x512 and make sure it's in PNG format. Once you have your image ready, go back to SimPe and right-click the image within the TXTR Editor and choose 'Build DXT...'
STEP 8:
Once you've opened the DDS Builder, go to 'open Image...' and select the edited image that you just resized. When done, press 'Commit'(It's near 'Import' and 'Export' on the far right)
Now all you need to do is save everything you've just done. Go to 'File' -> 'Save' (or CTRL + S)
Place the .package file into your Sims 2 'Downloads' folder and your edited work should show up in game <3
☆SWATCHES☆:
If you've finished all the steps and also want to have multiple swatches in-game, you'll want to open up the 'Object Workshop' tab in SimPe and click 'Open...', then select the .package file you just made earlier. After that, you select the recolor option and continue following the instructions above. When you're saving this object swatch you'll want to save it as something different. I like to put a rec(number) to distinguish the swatches but it's really up to you (Example: Turtle Poster rec1, Turtle Poster rec2, Turtle Poster rec3).
