♡ How to make your own sims 4 posters (by recoloring) ♡

you'll need: Sims4Studio and an editing program that can edit DDS files (i use paint.net for this guide. downloads for sims4studio and paint are at the bottom of this page)

Step 1: Open sims 4 studio and set up your account.

Step 2: When done, under 'Object', select 'Standalone Recolor' After doing that, now click 'Object'.

Step 3: Type 'poster' in the search bar and select which poster mesh you want to use.  When done, click 'Next'.

Step 4: Name your file whatever you want your poster file to be called. Before clicking 'Save', make sure to choose where you want your .package file to be saved. (Example: C:\Users\jenny\Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 4\Mods)

Step 5:  You should now see the mesh poster you chose at the beginning. If you want to change the art to something else (like a photo you've saved), locate the Texture section and click 'Export'. This is a temporary file to use as a template in the editing program so name this whatever you want (it can be deleted later on).

Step 6: Minimize Sims4Studio and open the paint.net program.

Step 7: Once in paint, go to 'File > Open...' and select the template mesh you last saved. Now through these same steps, open the photo you want to use to replace the poster art.

Step 8: Now that both files are uploaded to paint, select the photo (not the template) and enter in the key command 'Ctrl + C' (to copy). Click the template file and enter in the key command 'Ctrl + V' (to paste).

Step 9: A Paste prompt should come up asking how you want to paste the image. Select 'Keep canvas size'.

Step 10: Drag and adjust the photo to fit the poster artwork. When done, press 'Enter'.

Step 11: Now you have your first poster swatch. To save go to 'File > Save As...' and name it whatever you want (like the template file, you can also delete this later). Click 'OK' when done.

((Optional) This is only if you want to make more poster swatches instead of making just one. Skip to Step 12 if you're fine with just one swatch for your poster.

~1. Locate the small 'History' tab on the top right. It should list all of your actions so far. At the very top of the list, it should say 'Open Image'. Select it.

~2. Now it takes you back to the template file from the beginning. Redo the steps above until you have as many swatches as you want.

Step 12: Open Sims4Studio again and click 'Import' under the Texture section.

Step 13: Select the new swatch file you just did in paint. To upload the other swatches go to the multiple numbered blocks at the top and import the other swatches by the same method.

The rest is just customizing and choosing what type of poster you want in your game. For more help on how to navigate everything you can go the 'Help' section at the top and click 'Tutorial Link'.
